People 1st has launched a unique free web-based resource to support teachers and students studying leisure, travel, tourism and hospitality courses in schools and colleges in Northern Ireland. The resource also supports teachers delivering careers advice and guidance.
The site contains an enormous amount of information, student activities and teacher notes – all designed to support courses delivered by teachers in Northern Ireland. It features customer service and marketing as well as a section about working in the industry, and has a wide range of specially filmed interviews. The student activities can be downloaded and amended using local examples.
There are also two sections which feature tourism in Northern Ireland, with key input from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB). The resource has been funded by the Department for Education & Learning and the NITB. The resource will also support other related qualifications, including the new Diplomas in Travel and Tourism and Hospitality.
