This unit introduces learners to the range of tasks that a tour manager is expected to fulfil. Legislation relating to tours and the travel industry will also be investigated.

  1. TOUR MANAGER'S ROLE AT THE AIRPORT

This unit looks at skills and techniques required for handling groups at airports and holiday destinations. Background planning and organisation required to make airport procedures and transfers efficient are also covered.

  1. UNDERTAKE A TOUR AS TOUR MANAGER

Here learners will plan, conduct a short tour and complete the correct documentation involved. They will also have the opportunity to produce an itinerary for a tour, linking it to the role of an incoming tour operator

  1. TOUR MANAGER – THE WIDER ROLE

This unit investigates the tour manager’s role with regard to stopovers and the rest of the tour. Also how to conduct a welcome briefing. Understanding communication skills and understanding the importance of planning is also included in this unit.

  1. RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AS A TOUR MANAGER

This covers the ‘behind the scenes’ role which may have an impact on the tour manager. Learners will also develop good customer relationship.

  1. MANAGING SPECIALIST TOURS

This unit shows how types of special interest holidays require the qualifications and role of a tour manager to differ from that of a regular tour manager’s job. It also covers special interest holidays and their destinations in some detail.
